Rules and Regulations

  1. The Competition is open to young pianists and violinists worldwide who are under 23 years old.
  2. Candidates are divided into 3 age groups:
    Group A: 12 and under (born in 2005 or younger)
    Group B: 13 - 16 (born between 2001 and 2004 inclusive)
    Group C: 17 - 23 (born between 1994 and 2000 inclusive)
  3. Application deadline: 30 April, 2017
  4. The Competition Committee will notify accepted applicants to confirm their participation.
  5. Change of repertoire must be submitted to the Competition Committee before 30 June, 2017. No change of repertoire during the Competition is allowed.
  6. Travel fees:
    The Organizing Committee provides travel subsidy (up to 400 USD) to candidates with valid economic class air tickets or railway tickets.

    Subsidy is provided according to the following principles:
    • Candidates studying in Europe, America, Oceania and Africa will receive a subsidy up to 400 USD per person, and candidates studying in Asia, including Taiwan and Chinese mainland (except Guangdong Province, Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR) will receive a subsidy up to 250 USD per person.
    • Candidates studying in Guangdong Province, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR must provide valid travel tickets of their trip to Zhuhai for travel subsidy. If the expense exceeds 250 USD, candidated will receive a subsidy of USD 250; if the expense is less than 250 USD, the subsidy will be the actual amount.
  7. Free accommodation (breakfast included) will be provided to all contestants admitted to the public rounds of the Competition.
  8. The Competition Committee does not cover the traveling, dining, housing and traffic expenses of People who accompany the participants. The Competition Committee takes requests to arrange dining and housing in designated restaurants and hotels.
  9. The Competition arranges collaborative pianists for violinists for free. The Competition does not cover the expenses of candidates' own collaborative pianists
  10. Change of plan during the Competition must be informed to the Competition Committee in time.
  11. Candidates may not appeal against jury decisions.
  12. The Competition Committee is responsible for audio and video recording, TV, radio, and online broadcasting, winners' concerts, and other related events. The Competition Committee reserves the copyright of all audio and video productions and offers no payment to participants.
  13. All winners must take part in the Closing and Award Ceremony. Absentees give up the awards.
  14. Winners have opportunities to attend other concerts in China and other countries arranged by the Competition Committee. (Contracts for these events are otherwise arranged.)
  15. The Competition Committee provides related documents for VISA application.
  16. Application fee is not refundable.
  17. Completing of the application procedures implies participants' agreeing with the above items.


  1. Enter Application, filling in the on line application form. Please make sure that your online application is successful.
  2. An application fee of 100 USD must be transferred to the following account:

  3. All applicants must record a DVD of their performance attached to documents below:
    - a photo ( passport standard ) marked with the applicant' s name (in pinyin, English or Roman transliteration) and the month and year of birth. This photo should be the same as the one uploaded to the application system.

  4. Please mail the DVD and documents to: Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians Office, University Mozarteum Salzburg, Mirabellplatz 1, A-5020, Salzburg, Austria

    Please mail it before 30 April, 2017 (postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the sending date)
  5. Applicants have the responsibility to ensure the materials can be well received by the Competition Office before pre-selection. The organizers will accept no responsibility for loss of documents or DVD in the mail.
  6. We must receive all the needed materials to validate your application. Mailed materials will not be returned. The Competition Committee will keep all the materials as classified and reserves the right to ask for supplementary materials. Application fee is not refundable.
